The malt is smoked with alderwood in a 100-year-old drying barn. Following double distillation in pot stills, the whisky matures in ex-bourbon casks, French oak and new American white oak casks. They found a disused dairy in Isokyrö for the distillery, where the still was first fired up in 2014. Kyrö uses only Finnish wholegrain rye for its spirits, even though this demanding grain presents particular processing challenges.
