The maturation took place in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks (40%), second-fill sherry casks (15%), and a unique method where 15% of the distillate initially matured for 5 years in first-fill red wine casks from the Côtes du Rhône before being transferred to second-fill bourbon casks for two years. Another portion matured in second-fill sherry and wine casks (10%). This complex cask combination gives the whisky depth and complexity.
