Balblair 17 y.o.

Special features: The Balblair 17 years initially matured in former bourbon casks made of American oak and then received a finish in first-fill sherry casks made of Spanish oak. This double maturation gives it depth and complexity. The whisky was bottled without chill filtration and in its natural color, which emphasizes its authenticity.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Ripe aromas of dark chocolate and juicy sultanas, accompanied by a hint of antique polished wood notes.
  • Palate: Spicy root notes and viscous honey meet with campfire notes and toffee apples.
  • Finish: Lingering with accents of orange peel, candied fruits, and fine wood smoke aromas.

Distillery/Bottler: The Balblair Distillery was founded in 1790 by John Ross and is one of the oldest active distilleries in Scotland. It is located in Edderton, Ross-shire, and is known for its fruity and sweet single malts. In 1996, the distillery was acquired by Inver House Distillers, which also operates brands like Pulteney, Knockdhu, and Speyburn. (, )
