Special features: This limited release from the renowned Edradour distillery presents itself as an expressive 15-year-old single malt. Aged in 1st Fill Bourbon Barrels as well as in 2nd Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts, the whisky unfolds complex aromas. The cask selection and the high drinking strength of 58.9% vol. ensure an intense character, which appears particularly natural due to non-chill filtration and the absence of coloring. A total of 3,520 bottles were filled, underscoring the exclusivity of this edition.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Rich, smoky peat aromas blend with sweet-spicy dried fruit notes and hints of sherry cask oak.
- Palate: Full-bodied with powerful spice, caramel, and a fine, slightly earthy peat note accompanied by nuances of dark chocolate.
- Finish: Long and intense with a persistently smoky, slightly nutty finish.
Distillery/Bottler: The Edradour distillery in the heart of the Scottish Highlands is one of the smallest traditionally operating distilleries in Scotland. Since 1825, whiskies have been handcrafted here. Ballechin is the smoky range of the distillery, named after a former distillery and known for robust, peaty releases.
