Special features: The Ballechin Bourbon Cask Matured #6 is a limited release from the Edradour Distillery, bottled in 2011 after maturation in first-fill bourbon casks. With a peaty content of 50 ppm and a limited edition of only 6,000 bottles, this whisky is part of the Discovery series from Signatory Vintage.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: An intense smoky aroma, accompanied by earthy notes, spicy vanilla, gentle peat, forest floor, and peppery accents.
- Palate: Fresh hazelnuts and vanilla pudding combine with olive oil, leather, and a hint of marzipan. In the background, strong smoke unfolds.
- Finish: A medium-length finish with floral nuances, some vanilla, and oak spice.
Distillery/Bottler: The Edradour Distillery, founded in 1825, is one of the smallest and most traditional distilleries in Scotland. It is beautifully located by the Edradour River, surrounded by hills east of Pitlochry. Known for producing single malt whiskies using traditional methods that are rarely practiced in other distilleries.
