Hellyers Road The Journeyman
Special features: This release combines twelve years of maturation in ex-Bourbon casks with an additional five years in French oak casks that previously contained Port wine. The triple-distilled single malt comes from one of the first Tasmanian distilleries after over 150 years of hiatus and represents the modern renaissance of Australian whisky. Each bottle is part of the newly designed Core Range, which connects the heritage of discoveries in Tasmania with contemporary design.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Sweet honey notes, accompanied by floral nuances and subtle herbs.
- Palate: Jammy fruit sweetness meets orange blossoms and a fine herbal spice.
- Finish: Long-lasting, sweet, and with a velvety finish reminiscent of ripe fruits.
Distillery/Bottler: The Hellyers Road Distillery was founded in 1997 in Tasmania and was one of the first new establishments after over a century of prohibition. It honors the legacy of the British explorer Henry Hellyer, who explored the area in the 19th century. The distillery plays a central role in the Australian whisky boom and values traditional production methods combined with a modern interpretation and a clear connection to the Tasmanian landscape and history.
