Islay Mist Original Peated Blend
Special features: The Islay Mist Original Peated Blend was created in 1927 by Ian Hunter, the then manager of the Laphroaig distillery. On the occasion of the 21st birthday of John Granville Morrison, the son of the Laird of Islay, this blend was developed to offer guests a balanced mix of smoky peat and milder aromas. The recipe combines malt whisky from Laphroaig with selected Highland and Speyside malts as well as Lowland grain whisky, resulting in a harmonious tasting experience.
Tasting Notes:
-
Nose: A subtle and seductive mix of smoky peat and seaweed.
-
Palate: Dominant peat flavor, softened by a complex fusion of sweet malt, salty notes, and oak.
-
Finish: Gentle peat flavor that lingers on the palate, while toffee and coffee aromas leave a bittersweet aftertaste.
Distillery/Bottler: The Laphroaig distillery, founded in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston, is known for its characteristic smoky whiskies. It is located on the southern coast of the Isle of Islay and is one of the oldest and most prestigious distilleries in Scotland. Today, it belongs to the Japanese-American Beam-Suntory group.
