Special features: First Batch Strength release from Kilchoman, bottled at a powerful 57% ABV and without chill filtration or coloring. The elaborate cask maturation combines re-charred red wine casks, Oloroso sherry butts, and bourbon casks, giving the whisky its complex structure.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Red fruits, fresh cherries, heather flowers, and intense peat smoke.
- Palate: Toffee, rich spices, vanilla, and lingering peat smoke.
- Finish: Velvety viscosity with notes of fresh crumpets, butter, and honey.
Distillery/Bottler: Kilchoman is one of the youngest distilleries on Islay, founded in 2005, and follows the philosophy of traditional production of single malt whisky on-site – from growing the barley to bottling. Under the guidance of Master Distiller Anthony Wills, characterful whiskies are created that impressively reflect the rugged Islay landscape and its peat notes.
