Mannochmore Islay Cask Finish - Murray McDavid
Special features: This Speyside single malt from the Mannochmore Distillery has been finished in former Islay casks from the Caol Ila Distillery. This special cask combination gives the whisky a fascinating blend of sweet malt and smoky accents.
Tasting Notes:
-
Nose: Intense smokiness and seaweed, accompanied by vanilla, honey, and a hint of salty minerals.
-
Palate: Rich peat smoke combined with salty caramel, vanilla, and a hint of citrus fruits.
-
Finish: Full-bodied with smoky layers, sweet vanilla, spicy oak notes, and a long, slightly salty aftertaste.
Distillery/Bottler: The Mannochmore Distillery was founded in 1971 in Speyside by John Haig & Co. After a production pause between 1985 and 1989, the distillery reopened in 1992 and has been producing its own single malt since then. Today, it belongs to the Diageo group, the world's largest spirits company. Murray McDavid is an independent bottler known for innovative maturation methods since 1994 and refines whiskies from all over Scotland in various oak casks.
