Special features: The "Ocean Heart" is the first core whisky of the Myken Distillery and represents the pioneering work of the Norwegian distillery. This 6 years and 2 months aged single malt was distilled from 2/3 Norwegian barley that was first available in 2019. Part of the whisky was matured for 6 to 12 months in smaller casks, both from sherry and bourbon wood.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Inviting aromas of vanilla, citrus fruits, and fresh fruits, accompanied by a light salty sea breeze.
- Palate: Creamy caramel notes combine with a hint of salt and a subtle spiciness that adds depth.
- Finish: A long, peppery aftertaste that reflects the maritime origin of the whisky.
Distillery/Bottler: The Myken Distillery, founded in 2014, is located on the small island of Myken in Norway. It uses desalinated seawater from the Arctic Ocean for distillation and relies on traditional copper pot stills. The maturation takes place in casks that were previously used for storing Myken whisky, giving the "Ocean Heart" a special depth.
