Port Askaig 2014/2025 - 10 y.o. - Toasted Barrel #1033 - Kirsch
Special features: This powerful Islay Single Malt was bottled exclusively for the German market. It matured for 10 years in a specially prepared Toasted Barrel (#1033) and was bottled at natural cask strength of 57.8% vol. This special cask treatment gives the whisky additional depth, soft roasted aromas, and a harmonious balance between maritime smoke and sweet spice – a true Islay experience with character.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Strong peat smoke, campfire, and maritime salt notes meet caramel, vanilla, and roasted nuts. A hint of lemon zest and dried herbs adds additional complexity to the aroma.
- Palate: Full-bodied and complex – sweet smoke, malt sugar, and toffee combine with oak spice, dark chocolate, and light pepper. The toasted barrel maturation provides a creamy texture and gentle roasted aromas.
- Finish: Long, warm, and spicy – with notes of ash, salted caramel, vanilla, and a pleasant sweetness in the aftertaste.
Distillery/Bottler: Port Askaig is not the name of a single distillery, but represents independent bottlings that showcase the flavor spectrum of the Isle of Islay. The bottlings are carried out by Elixir Distillers, a renowned independent bottler. The philosophy of Elixir Distillers lies in the selection and bottling of whiskies that reflect the essence of Scottish whisky tradition.
