Tasting Notes

Nose: Cooked blood orange studded with cloves blends with notes of ruby ​​port and cinnamon.

Palate: Initial aromas of licorice sticks, toffee and cherry candies provide a rich and full taste, accompanied by a hint of orange marmalade.

Finish: Rum-raisin toffee and chocolate notes linger with traces of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Description

With the "burial" of the official rum ration (the "tot") in the Royal Navy on July 31, 1970, a centuries-old era came to an end. But: "Black Tot Day" was born – a rum holiday. Black Tot from Elixir celebrates this annually with a special bottling of their Finest Caribbean Rum.
The goal of the 2023 Black Tot Master Blender's Reserve is to be closer to the original Navy Blend, with a more intense mouthfeel and rich notes of wood smoke, espresso, and cocoa. To achieve this, Elixir Master Blender Oliver Chilton combined a portion of last year's Master Blender's Reserve, which, as always, consists partly of the original Navy Rum, with up to 31-year-old (wooden) pot and column still rums from five different countries: Guyana (31.5%), Barbados (18.3%), Jamaica (9%), Trinidad (19%), and Grenada (2.7%).
