The limited Rio de Janeiro Polo Edition forms part of Royal Salute’s Polo Collection and, as a Blended Scotch, is not composed exclusively of malt whiskies. A portion of the blend, matured for at least 21 years, comes from Braeval whisky held in first-fill casks, which contributes an aromatic, floral character. Components matured in American oak add creamy vanilla and coconut notes. The green bottle with polo motifs and the premium box extend the edition’s theme through their design.

The profile combines bright tropical fruit, pear and lime with a rich core of toffee, white chocolate and salted caramel. Cinnamon and cardamom provide a spicy contrast to the sweetness and lead into the lively finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines poached pear, roasted pineapple and lime sweets with vanilla cream, candied walnut, toasted wood and delicate floral notes.
• Palate: On the palate, honeydew melon and tart green apple meet coconut, toffee, white chocolate and salted caramel, while cinnamon and cardamom add lively spicy accents.
• Finish: The finish remains sweet, complex and spicy.

Chivas Brothers creates and bottles this Royal Salute edition. Master Blender Sandy Hyslop is responsible for its composition; since 2016, he has led blending across Chivas Brothers’ Blended Scotch portfolio, developing limited releases as well as the permanent collection.

Royal Salute was created in 1953 to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne. The brand name refers to the traditional 21-gun salute. Since its foundation, Royal Salute has used only whiskies matured for at least 21 years in its blends.
