Coleburn Local Heros Sweet Peat Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 46% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

Local Heros Sweet Peat is designed as a gentle introduction to smoky whisky. This blended malt combines caramel, butterscotch and vanilla with plum pudding, honey and fruity notes. Gentle smoke and a hint of tobacco provide a counterpoint to its pronounced sweetness.

Batch #0001 is bottled at 46% in 0.7-litre bottles. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring; gift packaging is included.

Alongside Sherry Bomb and Big Smoke, Sweet Peat forms part of Local Heros, a range of three blended malts. The blend consists of malts from undisclosed distilleries.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose presents caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, plum pudding and toffee beneath gentle, elegant smoke.
• Palate: Marshmallow, fudge, sweet honey, pear candy and ripe banana come together on the palate. Gentle smoke balances the sweetness, while a hint of tobacco completes the flavour profile.
• Finish: The finish is long, sweet and smoky.

Distillery/Bottler:

Sweet Peat is bottled at the historic Coleburn site in Speyside. The original Coleburn Distillery was founded in 1897 and closed in 1985.

Brothers Dale and Mark Winchester acquired the Coleburn buildings in 2004 and further developed the Victorian warehouses for cask storage and management. They are now working to revive the site as The Distillery at Coleburn. Former Benromach master distiller Keith Cruickshank is expected to oversee its future spirit production.
