Special Features:

This thirty-year-old blended malt belongs to the core CRN57° range and is bottled at 43%. It is intended as a preview of the character that a single malt from The Cairn matured for three decades could develop in the future.

The CRN57° whiskies bridge the period while the malts distilled at The Cairn are still maturing. Master blenders created the range to provide an early indication of the style intended for the distillery’s future bottlings. The name refers to its location on the 57th parallel north.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings together rich fruitcake, candied citrus peel and cinnamon with toffee and Medjool dates.
• Palate: On the palate, spice and pepper meet sultanas, forest berries, oak and floral nuances.
• Finish: Liquorice and spice remain present in the full, sweet finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Cairn began operating in 2022. It is located near Grantown-on-Spey, on the northern edge of Cairngorms National Park, overlooking the River Spey.

The distillery is owned by the independent family business Gordon & MacPhail, whose experience in selecting, maturing and bottling Scottish malts spans generations. Until The Cairn’s own single malts are released in the 2030s, the CRN57° range conveys the intended style through blended malts.
