MARS KASEI - Blended Whisky
Special features: The Mars Kasei is a carefully composed blend of Japanese malt and grain whisky. Created in the Mars Shinshu Distillery, which has been active since 1992 and has returned with fresh energy after a longer production pause. The whisky shows a successful balance of fruity and subtly smoky notes, resulting from the use of different grains and the skill of Distillery Manager Koki Takehira.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Fruity aromas of green apples, white grapes, and a hint of honey.
- Palate: Smooth and sweet with nuanced hints of freshly harvested fruit.
- Finish: Slightly smoky and gentle, with lasting warmth.
Distillery/Bottler: The Mars Shinshu Distillery, located in Japan's mountainous regions, has a tumultuous history. After the whisky crisis in the 1990s, production was temporarily halted and only revived in 2011. Under the leadership of Koki Takehira, whiskies with a Japanese character are produced here, often reminiscent of Scottish models, but showing a distinct personality through local ingredients and methods.
