Natural vanilla and Jamaican rum give this egg liqueur its distinctive flavour. Vanilla shapes the creamy recipe, while the rum adds aromatic depth without overshadowing the vanilla note. Spitzmund uses more egg yolk than legally required for egg liqueur and sources its eggs from KAT-certified farms. Neither milk nor cream is used in the recipe; the liqueur is free from lactose, milk protein, gluten and colouring.

The black, resealable glass bottle features a chicken illustration by Volker Nökel. It contains 0.5 litres of egg liqueur at 20% alcohol. At the World Liqueur Awards, Klötenköm won the World’s Best award in the milk and egg liqueurs category for five consecutive years, from 2022 to 2026.

Klötenköm can be enjoyed neat, over ice, in hot drinks or as an ingredient in desserts. The bottle should be stored in a cool, dark place. If the contents separate, bringing the liqueur to room temperature and shaking it vigorously helps restore its evenly creamy consistency.

Distillery/Bottler:

Spitzmund has its roots in Kiel and in founder Andreas Werner’s work behind the bar. His many years of developing his own cocktails laid the foundation for the brand’s recipes in 2013. Spitzmund works in small batches, and Klötenköm became its best-selling product. The Low German name combines “Klöten”, meaning eggs, with “Köm”, meaning schnapps.

For its bottle designs, Spitzmund collaborates with author, comic artist and illustrator Volker Nökel, whose work includes colouring the comic character WERNER. His illustrations appear on Klötenköm as well as other liqueurs from the brand.
