Special Features:

Cnoc Na Mòine is the third chapter of the Torabhaig Legacy Series and the first release in the range to include sherry casks in its cask composition. This heavily peated single malt matures in American oak ex-bourbon casks as well as Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks.

Concerto and Anchor malt and Pinnacle and Anchor yeast are used for this release. The phenol content is 78.4 ppm in the grain and 19.7 ppm in the bottled whisky. The whisky is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Gentle peat smoke accompanies citrus zest and lively fruit aromas. A delicate note of glowing ash complements the vanilla sweetness and hints of freshly cut oak.
• Palate: On the palate, the smoke develops a light barbecue note. Black pepper, subtle balsamic freshness, sweetness and gentle spice notes join it. Cedarwood and leather appear as delicate hints, given additional depth by the sherry casks.
• Finish: Light sherry notes emerge on the finish, remaining balanced with peat and spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

Torabhaig Distillery Ltd is located in Teangue, Sleat, on the Isle of Skye. The distillery was established in a restored farm building. Copper stills made specifically for the building and Douglas fir washbacks were installed in 2016; spirit production began in 2017.

The Legacy Series follows the development of the distillery’s peated house style towards its first ten-year-old whisky. Its limited releases showcase different stages of this development. With Cnoc Na Mòine, sherry-cask-matured whiskies join the cask composition for the first time, adding sherry influences to the smoky character.
