Special Features:

This Port Mourant combines distillation in a double wooden pot still with entirely continental maturation. The molasses rum was distilled in 2010 at Diamond Distillery in Guyana, then spent 15 years in Bourbon Barrels in northern Germany. FRC released it in 2025 as a single-cask bottling.

The release comprises 149 bottles. The rum was bottled at a cask strength of 61.6%, without added sugar, colouring or chill filtration. Alongside its spicy, fruity character, it reveals dark oak notes, mocha and caramelised popcorn. The dark bottle bears a green label with a ship's wheel motif and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals hints of rubber and black tea, accompanied by cinnamon, nutmeg and gentle vanilla. A light smoky note rounds out the bouquet.
• Palate: Liquorice and pepper lead on the palate. Ripe mango and peach add fruity accents, while honeyed sweetness balances the bold spice.
• Finish: The rum has a long finish with bitter tea leaves and a subtle, dry smokiness.

Distillery/Bottler:

At Diamond, Demerara Distillers Limited preserves historic stills from former sugar plantations and continues to use them to produce rum. The Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still comes from the Port Mourant Estate, founded in 1732. After a period at Uitvlugt, it arrived at Diamond in 2000. Its vessels made from Greenheart wood and its copper necks distinguish it from conventional metal pot stills; the wood contributes to the aromatic character of its spirits.

Flensburg Rum Company, or FRC, is a brand of Oldman Spirits in Jübek. Its releases are predominantly unsweetened single-cask and small-batch bottlings, usually at cask strength. The company develops its own blends and bottles selected rums. Since 2019, it has expanded its cask warehouse and bottling facilities; semi-automatic and fully automatic equipment allows it to offer bespoke contract bottling alongside its own brands.
