For Blackforest Wild Gin Creative, the botanicals are not distilled together in a single run. Max Wild divides the 65 ingredients into four groups: citrus, spices, Black Forest and floral. Each group undergoes its own maceration, during which the ingredients are steeped in alcohol, and is distilled separately. Only then are the four distillates blended into the finished gin cuvée.

Before bottling, the gin rests in clay amphorae for six to twelve months, allowing its aromas to harmonise. Its modern style combines gentle orange notes and exotic fruit with layered spice. Bottled at 42% alcohol, it is offered here in a bottle containing 0.5 litres without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The gin is fresh and fruity on the nose. Lemon and lime mingle with basil, ginger and tea notes.
• Palate: On the palate, it is soft and mild. Invigorating acidity accompanies its pronounced aromatic character and herbal nuances.
• Finish: Coriander and cardamom stand out clearly on the finish, accompanied by mace. Citrus nuances keep the overall impression fresh.

Distillery/Bottler:

WILD Schwarzwaldbrennerei & Weingut GmbH is based in Gengenbach in the Black Forest. Since 1855, the family has grown fruit and grapes and distilled spirits in copper stills. Through Franz Wild Senior’s specialisation, a mixed farming business developed into a company focused on distilling. Today, brothers Manuel, Max and Lukas run the family business: Manuel oversees winemaking, Max spirits production and Lukas sales.

Max Wild studied beverage technology and learned distilling from his grandfather, Franz Wild Senior. He combines this practical family knowledge with modern techniques, which he also encountered abroad. Creative Gin is his own development, and its separately macerated and distilled botanical groups demonstrate his approach of tailoring production to different ingredients.
