A single Refill Sherry Hogshead shapes this long-matured Mannochmore from the Connoisseurs Choice – Cask Strength range. Distilled in 1996, the single malt spent 26 years in cask number 1752. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it on 26 June 2023 exclusively for Kirsch Import for the German market, with an outturn of 227 bottles.

The whisky retains its cask strength of 49.8% and is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. Fruit, spices and toasted oak meet a creamy mouthfeel, while a delicate menthol note accompanies the finish. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is lively and fruity. Candied lemon peel and juicy sultanas mingle with cinnamon, cardamom and toasted oak.
• Palate: The palate offers a balanced interplay of juicy orange, sweet strawberries and vanilla custard. The mouthfeel is creamy.
• Finish: The medium-length finish leaves a delicate menthol note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Mannochmore was established in Speyside in the early 1970s and shares a site and mashing resources with the older Glenlossie distillery. This closely links two distilleries from different generations. Mannochmore produces the single malt for this bottling; Gordon & MacPhail oversees its maturation and selection for Connoisseurs Choice.

Gordon & MacPhail matches its own casks, made to its specifications, to spirits from numerous Scottish distilleries. This work combines cask selection with long-term maturation and has been passed down through four generations of the family business. George Urquhart established Connoisseurs Choice in 1968 to make single malts available from distilleries whose whisky had previously been used mainly in blends. The changing selection of bottlings places each distillery’s character at the centre.
