Special Features:

This Rosebank matured for 31 years in a single First Fill Bourbon Barrel, number 2122. The malt was distilled on 3 July 1991 and bottled on 10 February 2023 by Gordon & MacPhail for Connoisseurs Choice The Recollection Series #2. The cask yielded just 101 bottles at 53.5%. This whisky therefore comes from Rosebank's final period of production before its closure in 1993.

Vanilla, fruit and pastry shape the nose, while fruit and spice mingle with subtle oak notes on the creamy palate. The menthol-and-liquorice finish adds a distinctive accent. This non-smoky Single Malt is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in a wooden box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet vanilla pod gives way to peach cake. Lemon and a subtle lychee note complement the aromas, while warm spices develop alongside toasted malt.
• Palate: The whisky feels soft and creamy on the palate. Baked apple combines with hints of spicy anise and clementine before subtle notes of mature oak emerge.
• Finish: The finish is medium in length, with delicate notes of sweet menthol and liquorice lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

The historic Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk was founded in 1840 by James Rankine at the junction of the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Union Canal. It triple-distilled its malt using three copper stills and round wooden worm tubs, in which the alcohol vapour condensed inside coiled pipes. The distillery closed in 1993, two years after this spirit was distilled.

Gordon & MacPhail matured the whisky in Barrel 2122 and bottled it as an independent bottler. Selecting suitable oak casks for different spirits forms part of the expertise passed down through four generations of the family. For this release, Gordon & MacPhail kept Rosebank whisky from before the closure for more than three decades and released it as part of Recollection Series #2.
