Special Features:

This Tormore matured for 31 years in a single Refill Sherry Butt. Distilled in 1991, the single malt rested in cask 15381 before Gordon & MacPhail bottled it for Connoisseurs Choice on 17 November 2022. The cask yielded 518 bottles at a natural cask strength of 56.1%.

The long maturation in a sherry cask brings together fruity and nutty notes with chocolate and spice. The whisky was neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in a wooden box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, raisins and sweet raspberry syrup mingle with caramelised nuts. A subtle orange note complements the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, rich fruitcake notes meet bittersweet chocolate with nuts and Christmas spices. A hint of ginger adds to the flavour.
• Finish: The finish is full-bodied and long-lasting. Anise and spicy, toasted oak shape the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tormore Distillery lies in the Cromdale Hills of Speyside. Built in 1959, it was designed to produce a fruity, elegant style of whisky. For many decades, its output went mainly into blends, with Tormore appearing only occasionally as a single malt.

Gordon & MacPhail was responsible for the maturation, cask selection and bottling of this Tormore. Based in Elgin since 1895, the company matures and bottles whiskies from various Scottish distilleries. George Urquhart developed Connoisseurs Choice in the 1960s; since 1968, the range has also given a platform to distilleries whose whisky had not previously been available as a single malt. Its focus is on the individual characteristics of each distillery.
