Special features: The Copeland Merchant’s Quay Blended Whiskey is an Irish blended whiskey from the Copeland Distillery, founded in 2019 in Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland. This distillery produces a variety of spirits, including gin and rum. The whiskey is made from different types of casks, including Virgin Oak, re-char Bourbon, and Oloroso. Notably, it is not chill-filtered. With an alcohol content of 40% vol., it offers a balanced introduction to the world of Irish whiskeys.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: The nose opens with aromas of ripe nectarine, red apples, raspberries, as well as toffee and a hint of clove.
- Palate: On the palate, fruity notes emerge, accompanied by honey, cinnamon, and clementine zest, as well as brown sugar.
- Finish: The finish is dry and characterized by roasted wood and a light spiciness.
Distillery/Bottler: The Copeland Distillery uses three copper pot stills for whiskey production, including two for making single malt and single pot still Irish whiskeys. Additionally, local botanicals and fruits from County Down are used to refine the flavor. Besides whiskey, the distillery also produces gin and rum, enriching the range.
