Special Features:

A Madeira finish complements the long bourbon maturation of Fercullen 15 Year Old. Made from maize and malted barley, the whiskey initially matures for 15 years in first-fill bourbon barrels. A portion then undergoes further maturation in second-fill Madeira casks before being married with the remaining bourbon-matured whiskey. The finish adds dried-fruit and spice notes.

The single grain whiskey is bottled at 41.5% in 0.7-litre bottles. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and fudge mingle with honey-sweet almonds. Dried apricots, mango and ginger complete the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, the whiskey evokes warm, buttered popcorn, accompanied by orange and lime marmalade and dry oak spice.
• Finish: Creamy vanilla fudge, candied orange and lime peel come together in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Fercullen brand is based on the Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. From 2018, the estate’s historic mill building, dating from the 1730s, was converted to house the Powerscourt Distillery. This brought whiskey production back to Enniskerry after more than a century.

The distillery equipment was designed and built by Scottish specialist Forsyths. Three pot stills allow malt and pot still whiskey to be produced through double or triple distillation. This equipment shapes the distillery’s own production; Fercullen 15 Year Old, by contrast, belongs to the single grain category.
