Micil Earls Island Single Pot Still Whiskey 0.7 l

Special features: This Single Pot Still Whiskey from Galway is a tribute to the long distilling tradition of the region as well as to the former wine merchants who shaped Galway. The whiskey consists of 75.5% triple-distilled Pot Still Whiskey, which has been refined in 225-liter ex-Bordeaux red wine casks. The remaining 24.5% matured in small 125-liter quarter casks made of American oak, which previously held peaty whiskey. The careful cask selection and finishing give this drop its characteristic fruitiness and spice.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Spicy nuances with notes of dark fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla
  • Palate: Flavors of red apple, dark cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, the typical Pot Still spice, and rhubarb
  • Finish: Long-lasting with a successful balance of fruity and spicy tones

Distillery/Bottler: In 2016, Pádraic Ó’Griallas opened the Micil Distillery in Galway, the first distillery in the city in a century. Inspired by his family's roots, which operated an illegal distillery in Connemara in the 19th century, Micil combines traditional know-how with modern craftsmanship. The first whiskeys still come from purchased distillates, while their own production has long since begun. IrishWhiskeys is responsible as the distributor for the Swiss market.
