Special Features:

Teeling Blackpitts combines peat-dried barley malt with triple distillation. Peat smoke enters the malt as the malted barley is dried. Triple distillation softens the medicinal character, allowing the barbecue-like smokiness to come to the fore.

The whiskey matures in former bourbon casks and former Sauternes white wine casks. This cask combination was inspired by Teeling’s 24-year-old single malt, which won the award for the world’s best single malt at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards. Blackpitts is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, barbecue smoke and cloves mingle with butterscotch and orange peel.
• Palate: On the palate, applewood smoke, honey and allspice meet cooked pears and grilled pineapple.
• Finish: Salted caramel, wood and savoury smoke linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teeling Distillery is located in the Liberties, Dublin’s historic distilling district. Its family history dates back to 1782, when Walter Teeling established a small distillery on Marrowbone Lane. In 2015, Jack and Stephen Teeling opened Dublin’s first new distillery in more than 125 years, close to that earlier site.

Teeling experiments with different grain recipes, distillation methods and cask maturation. Blackpitts brings together the triple distillation of peated malt and a combination of bourbon and Sauternes casks. Its name refers to the historic Blackpitts area behind the present-day distillery.
