A twelve-month finish in hogsheads previously used for Marsala from the Sicilian winery Florio shapes this limited Irish edition. It is based on a blend of triple-distilled Single Pot Still and Single Malt whiskey. Walsh Whiskey bottled it at 45%. Earthy dried fruit also forms part of its overall sensory profile.
Five Marsala hogsheads were used for this edition. Following the finish and natural losses from the casks, they yielded a total of 2,430 bottles. The whiskey was bottled without chill filtration and at its natural colour.
The bottling strength is five percentage points higher than that of the regular Writers' Tears Copper Pot. Walsh Whiskey chose this strength to balance the natural sweetness imparted by the Marsala casks.

Walsh Whiskey was founded in 1999 by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh. This Irish family business develops Writers' Tears and The Irishman using carefully selected spirits and casks. Its former distillery was sold, and Walsh Whiskey now works with Irish spirits from partner producers. For Marsala Cask, the company blended Single Pot Still and Single Malt whiskey before giving it a twelve-month finish in Florio Marsala hogsheads.
