Volume: 0.5 litres | Alcohol content: 15% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: Yes
Special Features:
Real matcha powder gives this strawberry liqueur its green tea character. The recipe combines matcha's savoury, slightly grassy and sweet notes with fruity strawberry. Despite its creamy texture, the liqueur is vegan and does not use a conventional cream base. It is gluten-free but contains soya and colouring.
The liqueur contains 15% alcohol and comes in a bottle holding 0.5 litres. Because it contains matcha powder, the bottle should be shaken well before pouring. Serve it chilled, neat or over ice; it also works in hot and cold drinks or as a topping for desserts.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, fresh strawberry appears alongside green, slightly bitter matcha notes. A gentle creamy impression brings the two together.
- Palate: On the palate, the liqueur opens with fruit and gentle sweetness before the subtly bitter green tea character follows. The mouthfeel is rounded, light and creamy.
- Finish: Strawberry remains noticeable in the creamy finish. Gently bitter matcha gives it a mild, slightly drier character.
Distillery/Bottler:
Tipsy Tanuki is a liqueur brand founded by NORK in 2026, featuring Asian-inspired flavours. Its first releases were Matcha Latte and Matcha Strawberry. The brand takes its name from the tanuki, the Japanese raccoon dog, which represents conviviality and hospitality in Japanese folklore. The bottle design, influenced by Japanese pop culture and featuring a glossy sticker look, complements this idea.
NORK was founded by siblings Ann-Katrin and Johann Dallmeyer from Bremen and Hamburg. After two years of product development, they launched their first Korn grain spirit in October 2016; a large proportion of the first 300 bottles had already been sold through a crowdfunding campaign. Since 2018, NORK has also developed liqueurs, including combinations such as raspberry and rosemary, coffee and liquorice, and lemon and ginger. Design is also part of the concept: co-founder Ann-Katrin is a designer.
