Special Features:

This umeshu combines Japanese ume fruit with a natural green tea infusion. To make the base, the fruit is steeped for three to four months in a mixture of sake and spirits. Selected Japanese green tea is then infused in this base. Alongside its green tea aromas, it also brings hints of the roasted tea hojicha.

The balance of fruit sweetness and delicate tea bitterness defines this liqueur. Its aromatic range also includes apricot and honey. At 13% alcohol, this bottling is particularly suited to drinking chilled or serving over ice. The bottle contains 0.7 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, green tea mingles with ripe ume fruit. Lime zest adds a citrus accent, while a hint of vanilla complements the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, the liqueur is silky, with a creamy sweetness. Juicy ume fruit meets the delicate bitterness of green tea and a light acidity.
• Finish: The long finish reveals nutty almond notes and sweet vanilla. A slightly dry, vegetal note accompanies the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Umenoyado is a sake brewery in Katsuragi, in Japan's Nara Prefecture. Its history began in 1893 with Kumataro Yoshida, who founded Yoshida Kumataro Shoten. Today, UMENOYADO BREWERY Co., Ltd. produces liqueurs as well as sake.

The brewery's work with sake also provides an important foundation for its fruit liqueurs: in 2002, it launched Umenoyado no Umeshu, a sake-based liqueur. This was followed in 2007 by the expansion of the Aragoshi umeshu line, which uses fruit pulp. In its sake production, Umenoyado moved from a system led by a master brewer to a team-based approach in 2017.
