Special Features:

Joseph Cartron uses maté from Argentina for Thé Vert Maté. The leaves are slowly macerated in alcohol to extract their aromas. The resulting liqueur has a vegetal character and a flavour reminiscent of green tea. Subtle woody notes complement its herbal and menthol-like aromas.

In the glass, the liqueur has a lustrous green-bronze colour. It contains 18% alcohol and comes in a bottle containing 0.7 litres. Served well chilled, it can be enjoyed as a digestif; in cocktails, it pairs well with gin, lime juice and tonic, for example.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, menthol-like notes mingle with fresh vegetal aromas and a delicate hint of smoke.
• Palate: The liqueur opens with a rounded, mild and velvety feel on the palate. Pronounced vegetal freshness, reminiscent of chlorophyll, quickly emerges.
• Finish: The finish is spicy and subtly bitter, with a gentle tannin-like astringency lingering afterwards.

Distillery/Bottler:

Joseph Cartron founded the house bearing his name in 1882 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy. The family remained connected with the company for five generations, and Judith Cartron carries this history forward. The liqueur maker has longstanding relationships with regional fruit growers and distillers. These partnerships enable the careful selection of aromatic fruit varieties for the house’s Burgundian specialities. With Argentine maté, Cartron broadens its range beyond regional fruits, using maceration to extract its vegetal aromas.
