Special Features:

Patrón XO Cafe combines the agave base of Patrón Silver with natural essence from Arabica coffee grown in the Mexican state of Veracruz. The tequila is made from blue Weber agave from the Jalisco highlands. Coffee defines the liqueur, complemented by chocolate, vanilla and light notes of cooked agave. Its texture is smooth and velvety, while its flavour is more dry than notably sweet.

The dark brown liqueur is bottled at 35% alcohol. This version contains 0.7 litres and comes without gift packaging. It can be enjoyed neat or over ice, used in cocktails or poured over desserts to add a coffee accent.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh coffee aromas mingle with chocolate and vanilla.
• Palate: Freshly roasted coffee leads on the palate. Chocolate and vanilla complement it, while the tequila remains subtly perceptible.
• Finish: The finish is smooth yet dry.

Distillery/Bottler:

The tequila base is produced at Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco. There, the agave hearts are cut by hand and cooked in masonry ovens. Steam and resting phases alternate over 79 hours to cook the hearts evenly throughout. Patrón then uses two methods to extract the juice: a roller mill and a tahona, a two-tonne millstone made from volcanic rock.

The two production streams initially remain separate. The juice from the roller mill and the juice with agave fibres from the tahona ferment for three days in small pinewood vats. Each is then distilled twice in small copper pot stills whose design was developed by the original Master Distiller, Francisco Alcaraz. Only then are the distillates blended. For Patrón Silver, the strength is then adjusted for drinking; for XO Cafe, this tequila is combined with coffee essence.
