Special Features:

Malfy Originale combines a classic dry gin style with Italian citrus botanicals. Its recipe includes hand-picked juniper and Italian lemons, alongside coriander seeds, orange and grapefruit peel, angelica root, liquorice root, orris root and cassia bark. Water from Piedmont complements the distillate. The gin is bottled at 41% in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Vacuum distillation allows evaporation at lower temperatures. This reduces the botanicals' exposure to heat and preserves their fresh aromas. Originale's dry juniper character makes it a suitable base for a gin and tonic.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals classic juniper aromas, accompanied by coriander and anise.
• Palate: On the palate, the gin is dry and almost salty. Juniper and liquorice shape the flavour, with only a subtle touch of citrus.
• Finish: Spicy notes emerge on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Torino Distillati produces Malfy in Moncalieri, in Piedmont in north-western Italy. Master Distillers Beppe Ronco and Denis Muni are responsible for the gins.

The production site was built in 1906 and originally belonged to the Ferrero di Riccardo brothers, whose business centred on wine and vermouth. Seagram took over the business in the 1960s. Carlo Vergnano, then technical and operations director at Seagram Italia, bought the plant in 1992 and founded Torino Distillati. The company thus continues the long tradition of liqueur and spirits production around Turin.
