Special Features:

This single-cask release from Mauxion Sélection brings together French oak maturation and the Cognac’s Borderies origins. The Cognac from cask #45 is bottled at a cask strength of 55%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Fine tannins provide structure while the floral notes remain present.

Roasted nuts and liquorice are the defining flavour notes of this release. Dried fruit, a subtle vanilla note and spicy accents complete the profile. The 0.7-litre bottle is supplied in a wooden box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, nutty aromas combine with dried fruit. A subtle vanilla note adds to the layered bouquet.
• Palate: The Cognac feels soft and rounded on the palate. Towards the end of the palate impression, spicy notes emerge strongly, accompanied by a hint of cocoa.
• Finish: The finish is long and warm, leaving a lingering nutty note.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Mauxion family has been rooted in Houlette for centuries. Its Cognac-making history dates back to 1743, when Antoine Mauxion made eau-de-vie from grapes grown in his own vineyard. Over ten generations, the family continued growing grapes, making wine and distilling in copper stills. The spirits then mature for many years in French oak casks.

Mauxion Sélection focuses on long-matured Cognacs from individual crus, including Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. The selection is offered at cask strength without blending different Cognacs, placing the distinctive character of each growing area at the centre. In the Borderies, clay and flint derived from weathered limestone shape the soils.
