Special Features:

Roasted Filippo Cea almonds form the basis of Adriatico Amaretto Roasted Almonds. Hand-harvested in Apulia, the almonds are roasted for several hours before being macerated and distilled. The result puts roasted almond character alongside sweetness at the heart of the liqueur.

Vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa and coffee are added to the almond distillate, along with less cane sugar than is used in traditional amaretti. A pinch of sea salt from Margherita di Savoia on the Adriatic coast adds a subtle salty accent to the recipe. The liqueur is made with natural ingredients and is VEGAN OK certified.

The liqueur is rust-brown in colour. Its combination of roasted almonds and spices can be explored neat or over ice. The amaretto brings its nutty character to cocktails and also works as an ingredient in desserts. This bottling contains 0.5 litres at 28% alcohol.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Intense roasted almond aromas lead on the nose, accompanied by sweet marzipan, almond butter, delicate caramel notes and a hint of vanilla.
  • Palate: Almond remains clearly present on the palate, with a harmonious mouthfeel. Sweet almond butter and distinctive honeycomb toffee complement the nutty notes. Cinnamon, coffee and cocoa round out the flavour, while a subtle bitter almond note contrasts with the sweetness.
  • Finish: The long finish feels soft and warm. Toasted almonds and honeycomb toffee linger alongside nutty roasted flavours and a subtle sweetness. A hint of coffee and a delicate floral note add to the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Jean-Robert Bellanger is the person behind Adriatico. His inspiration for the amaretto came from his Italian mother's tiramisu, which she made with a little amaretto. Developing the recipe took two years. The brand belongs to Bellaventura S.A., and Roasted Almonds is produced in Putignano, Apulia. Apulian almonds are the core ingredient in the brand's Italian amaretti.

Apulia also shapes the bottle's design: the logo echoes the form of a trullo, the dry-stone hut typical of the region. The architecture of Castel del Monte inspired the bottle's shape. The label's colours reflect the blue of the Adriatic and the region's golden light.
