Caroni 1994 Guyana Heavy Trinidad - Paradise #3
Special features: This extraordinary rum was distilled in 1994 at the legendary Caroni distillery in Trinidad and then aged for 26 years. Initially, it spent 14 years in Trinidad and Tobago before being transferred to Guyana to Demerara Distillers Ltd. in 2008. From 2019, it continued to mature in glass balloons in the Cognac region. It was bottled in 2023 by Velier at cask strength with 52.8% ABV. The limited edition comprises only 215 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Intense aromas of tar, oak, and medicinal notes, accompanied by a hint of rubber tires.
Palate: Full-bodied with dominant flavor notes of tar, rubber tires, and a slight bitterness, accompanied by woody and vanilla undertones.
Finish: Long and persistent with a dry, woody finish and subtle sweet accents.
Distillery/Bottler: The Caroni distillery, founded in 1918, was known for its heavy, complex rums. After its closure in 2003, many casks were acquired by Velier and further aged in various countries. Velier, an Italian bottler, specializes in marketing rare and high-quality rums.
