Tasting Notes:
Nose: An intense bouquet of dark chocolate, slate, orange peel, ripe mango, incense, diesel, wax, furniture polish, dried coriander, yellow peach, Russian leather, iodine tincture, dried apricot, grilled walnut, and orris butter.
Palate: Lively and well-rounded with flavors of gasoline, enchanting floral notes (geranium, vetiver), licorice, herbal infusions (black tea), menthol, chocolate, and plenty of fruits (jam, persimmon).
Finish: Long and concentrated with notes of sandalwood, incense, and polished furniture wood, followed by wonderful aromas of weathered wood (rosewood). Elegant notes of praline, ripe mango, cocoa bean, and sandpaper give the retro-nasal scent length and complexity.
Distillery/Bottler: The Caroni distillery was founded in 1918 and was known for its heavy, complex rums. After its closure in 2003, Luca Gargano from Velier acquired numerous casks to preserve the heritage of this unique distillery and make it accessible to the world.
