Special Features:

A former sherry cask from Bodegas Fundador shapes this single-cask bottling from Hampden Estate. Distilled in 2021, the rum matured for four years in the tropical climate of Trelawny, Jamaica, and was bottled from cask A in 2025. It was selected together with the La Maison du Whisky team from an experimental series of sherry casks used to mature different Hampden marks and vintages.

LFCH stands for Lawrence Francis Close Hussey and identifies one of Hampden's distinct distillate profiles. This mark is made from molasses and, with an ester range of 80 to 120 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol at distillation, belongs to the distillery's lighter profiles. Here, sherry-cask maturation complements the distillate's character with layered impressions of wood, fruit, nuts and spices.

The rum was bottled at a cask strength of 62.8%. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Cocoa and balsamic cedarwood notes emerge first. Dried herbs, orange peel and apricot add to the aroma. With aeration, sandalwood and wax appear.
• Palate: The rum is full-bodied and balanced on the palate. Chestnut, truffle and liquorice combine with a slight herbal bitterness of gentian and mint. Roasted nuts and mild spices give structure to the lingering flavours.
• Finish: Chocolate and dried fruit define the lingering finish. Cinnamon and ginger leave a powdery impression, accompanied by a delicate smoky note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hampden Estate is located in Trelawny, Jamaica, and has produced rum since 1753. The distillery specialises in aromatic pot-still rums. Its different marks result from individual recipes that bring together raw materials, fermentation times and distillation methods. Ester ranges distinguish these distillate profiles; LFCH is one of them.

For many years, Hampden supplied rum for further processing by other companies, including European blenders. The distillery only began storing its own production on site in 2009; its first official bottlings reached the market in 2018. Alongside the different distillate profiles, maturation in Jamaica's climate thus became a central focus.
