This Quarterdeck bottling presents Hampden as a twelve-year-old single-cask rum matured in oak casks. The molasses rum was distilled in a pot still on 30 June 2009 and bottled by Duncan Taylor on 17 February 2022. Cask 27 yielded 335 numbered bottles at 50.8% alcohol.

The selection of a single cask makes this edition a limited snapshot of matured Hampden rum. It is bottled without added colouring or chill filtration, and no other additives were used.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, banana, vanilla and oak mingle with sweet impressions. A glue-like note adds another element to the aroma. Mango, spice and leather notes also emerge against a woody background.
• Palate: The palate reveals pineapple, estery fruit notes, oak and brioche, accompanied by an astringent mouthfeel. Chocolate, nuts and citrus notes complement the fruity impressions on the palate.
• Finish: Raisins, brioche and spicy notes linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hampden Estate is located in Trelawny, Jamaica. The distillery uses natural yeasts and fermentation times of eight to fifteen days. Four pot stills are available for distillation. These methods provide the background to its distinctive rums; independent bottler Duncan Taylor selects the rum for this Quarterdeck bottling.

Duncan Taylor began in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading company. Following its acquisition by Euan Shand in 2001, the company moved to Huntly in Aberdeenshire and developed its business as an independent bottler. Its infrastructure includes its own cask warehouses, a cooperage and a bottling facility in Huntly. Alongside whisky, its cask selection also encompasses rum, including this Quarterdeck edition from Hampden.
