This unaged white rum presents Long Pond Distillery’s high-ester TECC marque without cask maturation. It comes from traditional pot stills and belongs to the S.B.S Origin Selection. For this range, 1423 selects unaged spirits with distinctive character. Their origin profiles and marques also feature in the matured bottlings of the Single Barrel Selection.

The rum was distilled in 2022 and bottled at 57% in 2023. Without cask maturation, the spirit’s own aromas take centre stage: intense tropical fruit, sugarcane juice, pronounced funk and spice. Molasses is the raw material; the sugarcane juice note describes its aroma, not its base ingredient.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is very intense, bringing together tropical fruit, sugarcane juice and pronounced funky notes.
• Palate: On the palate, tropical fruit flavours combine with funk and spice.
• Finish: The finish is long, leaving a sweet impression with a pronounced, unmistakably rum-like character.

Distillery/Bottler:

Long Pond Distillery Limited distilled this TECC-marque rum in Jamaica. The distillery is located in Clark’s Town in the parish of Trelawny and is operated by National Rums of Jamaica. It was rebuilt following a fire in 2018 and celebrated its return to full production in June 2022. The reconstruction also included the installation of oak vessels.

1423 ApS handles selection and bottling for S.B.S Origin, while Long Pond produces the rum. Based in Ringe, the Danish company grew out of a group of friends’ enthusiasm for rum in 2008. Their first bottling was a blend from Barbados and Trinidad, bottled in November 2008 and released in early 2009. The number of the sample they selected, 1423, became the company’s name. Today, the Single Barrel Selection and its unaged Origin range are among the company’s own brands.
