Belizean Blue Signature Blend brings together rums from Belize matured for up to seven years in oak casks previously used for bourbon. Travellers Liquors distils the rum from molasses and blends the matured components. The sugar cane is locally grown and Fairtrade-certified. The Signature Blend itself also carries Fairtrade certification.

Its sweet, spicy character combines vanilla and caramel with gentle spice notes and a subtle hint of coconut. The rum contains neither added colouring nor added sugar and is offered at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle. It can be enjoyed neat, over ice or as a base for cocktails.

The design features the blue morpho butterfly from the forests of Belize, which gives the brand its name. The bottle comes in a gift tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla and toffee mingle with gentle spice notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
• Palate: The rum is full-bodied yet delicate on the palate. Vanilla, sweet toffee and caramel meet mild spices.
• Finish: The long finish remains smooth, combining sweetness with spicy notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Travellers Liquors traces its roots to a bar opened by Jaime Omario Perdomo Sr. in Belize City in 1953. Its name referred to the travellers who stopped there on their way into or out of the city. Perdomo began creating his own rum blends for his guests. As demand grew, consistent quality in the available spirits became increasingly important.

Together with Luis Alberto Espat, Perdomo expanded rum production by establishing a distillery in Belmopan. His sons Romel and Mayito joined the family business in the 1970s. In 1989, Travellers acquired its partner's shares, gaining full control of production. The Perdomo family continues to run the company.

The Belizean Blue brand grew out of a collaboration between Travellers Liquors Ltd and Belizean Blue Spirits Company. Travellers handles the distillation, maturation and blending of the rums for the Signature Blend. Combining locally grown sugar cane with a selection of matured components thus builds on the company's history as a rum producer and blender.
