The Black Tot Historic Solera is a full-bodied and elegant rum for connoisseurs and gourmets. After maturing in bourbon and casks flavored with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry, the team led by Master Blender Oliver Chilton matures this fine blend of Guyana, Barbados, and Jamaican rum in solera sherry casks.
What's special about this barrel: Unlike most barrels, these are originals and were used in Jerez for up to 70 years before being transported to Scotland. In their proprietary, three-stage solera process, Elixir Distillers now blend Caribbean rums of different ages. The younger rum interacts with the concentrated essence of older varieties, acquiring fuller characteristics with each step. This continuous blending results in a rum with remarkable depth and character.
The Historic Solera is best enjoyed neat and in strong, rum-based cocktails.
