Special Features:

Bumbu The Original combines rum made in Barbados with selected natural spices. Its recipe draws on Caribbean seafaring traditions of the 16th and 17th centuries, when herbs and spices were added to rum. For today's bottling, the rum is distilled in small batches and blended by hand.

The blend includes rums aged in former bourbon casks for up to 15 years. This is not an age statement for the blend as a whole. Bumbu The Original has a sweet, fruity and spicy character with a soft texture. The 0.7-litre bottle is filled at 40% alcohol and comes in a gift tube. A metal X and a large cork stopper define its design.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sugar cane, vanilla and ripe banana mingle with caramel. Cinnamon, roasted nuts and spicy oak complement the soft aroma.
• Palate: Bumbu feels full-bodied and soft on the palate. Banana, creamy vanilla and caramel meet roasted nuts, subtle cinnamon and balanced oak spice.
• Finish: The long finish remains gentle and soft. Sweet vanilla and caramel notes linger alongside spicy woody tones.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bumbu Original is made at a distillery founded in 1893 on the coast of Barbados. Two continuous distillation systems are used to produce the rum. The yeast used during fermentation is also part of the distillery's own closely guarded production methods.

The sugar cane for Bumbu is selected from the Caribbean and South America; the Original is distilled and blended in Barbados. Local groundwater, filtered through the island's natural limestone, is also used in the product. Its raw materials therefore come from several growing regions, while production remains rooted in Barbados.
