Special Features:

Bourbon-cask maturation followed by a sherry finish shapes Bumbu XO. The rum is distilled and aged in Panama. The blend uses rums matured for between ten and eighteen years in American bourbon casks. The rum then receives a selected finish in white oak sherry casks from Andalusia.

Toffee, vanilla and toasted oak form the aromatic core, contrasted by orange peel and peppery spice. A delicate coffee note adds to the flavour. Bumbu XO can be enjoyed neat or with an ice cube and also works in classic rum cocktails.

The matt-black bottle features a silver-coloured X medallion alongside silver and white details. This version contains 0.7 litres of rum at 40% alcohol and comes in a cylindrical gift tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals toffee and vanilla alongside the scent of toasted oak. Roasted nuts are clearly present, and a pronounced sherry character shapes the bouquet.
• Palate: Orange peel and peppery spice come to the fore on the palate. A hint of coffee complements these impressions.
• Finish: The finish is soft and distinctly sweet. Tea notes outweigh the coffee, while fruity impressions linger. Light spice and a hint of incense complete the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

The name Bumbu draws on a Caribbean tradition from the 16th and 17th centuries: sailors added herbs and spices to their rum and called the mixture Bumbu. This historical inspiration explains the brand name, although today's expressions are made at different production sites. While Bumbu Original comes from Barbados, XO and Cream are produced at a Panamanian distillery whose history dates back to 1890.

For Bumbu XO, the distillery uses local Panamanian sugar cane and spring water. The selection and blending of aged rums, followed by the sherry finish, define this expression. XO therefore centres on the combination of different stages of maturation and cask influences.
