Special Features:

Coffey and pot still rums age separately in former bourbon casks before being blended and resting together for a further six months in oak casks. Chairman's Reserve Original combines caramelised fruit with spicy, tobacco-rich depth. The blend has an average age of five years, but the bottling carries no age statement. The rum is bottled at 40%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals cooked banana and caramelised fruit, accompanied by vanilla and spicy oak.
• Palate: The rum is soft, rounded and balanced on the palate. Chocolate, golden raisins, tobacco and clove combine with gentle oak.
• Finish: The long finish is creamy. Sweetness and spice linger, accompanied by a gentle dryness.

Distillery/Bottler:

St. Lucia Distillers produces and bottles Chairman's Reserve in the Roseau Valley. Laurie Barnard developed Original in 1999. The distillery was formed in 1972 through the merger of Dennery Distillery and Roseau Bay Distillery, the island's last two rum distilleries. The company has belonged to Groupe Bernard Hayot since 2016.

The distillery processes molasses and uses both pot stills and continuous column stills. In its general production, it ferments molasses with water and yeast at controlled temperatures for 24 to 30 hours. The different distillation methods yield distinct characters, which the blending team brings together for the respective rums.
