Special Features:

Clément Blanc focuses on the character of fresh sugarcane juice. This white rhum agricole carries the protected AOC Martinique designation of origin and is not matured in wooden casks. It is bottled at 40% alcohol in a 1-litre bottle.

During the harvest season from February to June, freshly cut sugarcane is crushed and pressed. The extracted juice, known as vesou, ferments for 24 to 36 hours in open vessels. The fermented liquid is then distilled to no more than 75% alcohol to preserve the sugarcane aromas. For a Ti’Punch, combine it with cane sugar or sugarcane syrup and a piece of lime.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is pronounced and grassy. Delicate white flowers and a subtle herbal note complement the green character.
• Palate: The rum initially seems almost sweet on the palate, but quickly turns dry. Grassy notes mingle with delicate herbs and a slightly earthy tone. Lemon and white flowers round out the flavour profile. The flavour lingers on the palate.
• Finish: Herbal notes become more prominent than the grassy notes in the finish. Mineral impressions and freshly cracked black pepper accompany the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

Habitation Clément is located in Le François on Martinique and forms the historic heart of the house. Distillation takes place at Distillerie du Simon, while maturation, blending and bottling are carried out at Habitation Clément.

Julien Thimon has overseen the production of Clément rums as cellar master since 2021. Before that, he worked with his predecessor Robert Peronet on maturation and blending for eighteen years. An in-house tasting panel regularly assesses samples from different stages of production, examining their aromas, texture and flavour. The estate’s bottling facility has two bottling lines as well as storage and dispatch areas.
