Special features: This limited rum from the renowned Isautier distillery on La Réunion was distilled from molasses in 2005 and aged for 16 years in a former Cognac oak barrel. Named after one of the first ships of the Isautier brothers, Louis and Charles, who founded the distillery in 1845, it was bottled in 2022 in only 557 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Multi-layered aromas of juicy plums and sandalwood, accompanied by pineapple and mango. Black cherries and candied lemon harmonize with creamy honey and gentle spices.
- Palate: Complex and intense with tropical fruits, blackberries, and grated lemon zest. Behind it, honey candies, cloves, and caramelized sugar. Dark wood notes in the background.
- Finish: Long and harmonious with juicy fruit, wonderful spices, and an irresistible honey sweetness.
Distillery/Bottler: The Isautier distillery, founded in 1845 by Louis and Charles Isautier, is the oldest still-active distillery on La Réunion. It is known for producing authentic rums from sugarcane molasses and has built an excellent reputation over generations.
