Jack Crap Spirits (JCS) Honest Venezuelan Rum

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 55% | Chill filtration: No

Special Features:

Honest Venezuelan Rum launches the Jack Crap Spirits range as Single Origin No. 1. It spends its entire 15-year maturation in Venezuela in ex-bourbon casks, with no further continental maturation or additional finish.

The rum is distilled in a column still, which operates continuously, and subsequently bottled in Germany. It contains no added sugar, flavourings or colouring and is not chill-filtered. It is bottled at 55% in a 0.7-litre bottle.

The packaging materials are also deliberately chosen: the bottle is made from at least 95% recycled glass, and the label from 95% sugarcane paper. Charcoal and cork are used for the closure.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla mingles with leather and tobacco. A light citrus note completes the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, dark fruits meet vanilla and woody notes.
• Finish: Vanilla lingers on the finish, accompanied by pepper.

Distillery/Bottler:

Destilería Sofa in Venezuela produces the rum. Founded in 1796, the distillery lies between the north-central and north-eastern parts of Venezuela. It uses continuous column distillation, while cask maturation takes place in the country's tropical climate.

Jack Crap Spirits is the brand and bottler behind this rum. Founder Nina Vorster brings experience from senior management roles and co-founding a rum company. The brand discloses the origins, maturation locations, previous cask contents and additives of its bottlings, combining this transparency with specific packaging choices.
