A long Oloroso sherry finish shapes this Jamaican rum from Rum Nation. Distilled from molasses in a pot still in 2017, it was bottled in 2023 with an age statement of five years. Its maturation combines a bourbon cask with a five-year Oloroso finish in a continental climate.

This single-cask edition was created for Kirsch Import and Mac Y and comprises 624 bottles. Rum Nation bottled it at its cask strength of 57.84%, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

The sherry influence adds balsamic accents, brown sugar and raisins to the notes of fermented fruit and wax polish. The result brings together a distinctive Jamaican aromatic profile, dark sweetness and pronounced spice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fermented fruit combines with wood glue and wax polish. A note of wheat flour adds to this unusual bouquet.
• Palate: Sherry stands out clearly on the palate. The intense flavour combines balsamic notes with cane sugar, liquorice, camphor and cinnamon.
• Finish: The long, warm finish reveals white pepper and grassy notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Rum Nation traces its origins to oenologist Fabio Rossi, who discovered rum during a stay in Scotland in 1990. After nine years exploring the spirit, he founded the brand in 1999. As an independent bottler, Rum Nation selects rums from different origins to showcase the flavour differences between their countries of origin.

The range spans the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Madeira. The Single Domain Rums focus on their respective origins, while Rum Nation also names the distillery for its Rare Rums series. This Jamaica belongs to the Single Domain Rums and was selected and bottled by Rum Nation as a single-cask edition.
