Special Features:

A Ruby Port finish follows seven years of maturation in former bourbon barrels for this Panamanian rum. The rum then continues to mature in a Ruby Port cask from Portugal. Its eight-year age refers to the full maturation period, rather than a solera age statement. This bottling belongs to the core range of El Ron del Artesano.

The rum is made from molasses, with no added sugar, artificial flavourings or colouring. The port casks are carefully emptied before the finishing stage; the sugar content remains below 5 grams per litre. The rum is also bottled without chill filtration.

Batch 11-24 was bottled on 26 November 2024 at 43.4%. The release comprises 1,127 numbered bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. Gift packaging is included.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Cherries and prunes emerge first on the nose. With a little time and air, delicate vanilla notes and dried orange peel join them. A hint of molasses complements the fruity aromas.
• Palate: The palate opens gently, with a soft, silky texture. Cherries and vanilla remain present, joined by impressions of cream sweets and cherry cake.
• Finish: The alcohol makes itself briefly felt on the finish, yet remains well integrated and gentle on the tongue.

Distillery/Bottler:

El Ron del Artesano brings together Panamanian rum and a family history in the Black Forest that began in 1880 with a distillery and cooperage. Viktor, who later learned both trades, is depicted working on a cask on the label. The brand thus commemorates his work as a distiller and cooper.

In the fifth generation, Sebastian took over the selection and maturation of the rums; he has been selecting casks in Panama since 2012. Tastings determine when the rum is ready for bottling. The bottles are filled and labelled by hand. The family's warehouse is covered by a three-metre-thick layer of concrete and earth, which limits temperature fluctuations throughout the year; humidity is also regulated naturally.
